A blog post on a Friday? How blessed y'all are🫣.

This post is a trivia telling you of the important unimportant facts of Easter. Did you know that the week from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday is called Holy Week? And each day has a special name?

If you did, ā€œgo off, Bible scholaršŸ„‚ā€, if you didn't, ā€œwe learn everyday, don't we?ā€

Plus some song recommendations to get you in your feels this Easter.

Palm Sunday (6 days until resurrection)

Palm Sunday marks Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The promised Messiah entered Jerusalem, to the people this felt like a political revolution. They thought he was coming to take over and deliver them from Roman rule so they shouted, ā€œHosanna, Hosanna in the highestā€(Mat 21:9). Did you know that ā€œHosannaā€ means ā€œsave usā€.

The people of Jerusalem shouted these calls to Jesus as he rode through their streets on a donkey. They laid palm branches and clothes on the road as he passed.

Holy Monday (5 days until resurrection)

There are variations of what exactly happened on this day per different gospel accounts. It is believed that this was the day Jesus cursed the fig tree (Mark 11:12-14) and drove the traders out of the temple (John 2:13:25).

Holy Tuesday (4 days until resurrection)

Jesus taught and debated in the temple (Mat 23:1-12). He also predicted His death using the temple analogy.

Holy/Spy Wednesday(4 days until resurrection)

This was the day Judas met with the Pharisees and agreed to betray Jesus. Judas literally became a spy to sell out his master (Mat 26:14-16).

Some also call this day ā€œSilent Wednesdayā€ because nothing is said of what Jesus Himself did on that day.

Maundy Thursday (3 days until resurrection)

This is the day of the last supper. The day Jesus wrapped a cloth around His waist and washed the feet of His disciples. The day Judas hurriedly left to tell the Pharisees where Jesus was. The term Maundy comes from the Latin word for mandate or commandment, signifying the new commandment Jesus gave His disciples.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one anotherā€ (John 13:34).

Good Friday (2 days until resurrection)

One of the most important days. The day Jesus was crucified.

It is believed that He spent approximately six hours on the cross(Mark 15:25,33).

He also spoke seven times on the cross.

Victims of crucifixion were rendered mute due to suffocation, so you can imagine the great deal of effort required to utter those seven statements.

For a day so sad, it is good. It is good because that was the day Jesus took our sin upon Himself and went to die on the cross.

Holy Saturday(1 day until resurrection)

Saturday is a day of grief and gloom. The saviour is dead, the disciples gutted. A season of darkness. We know that while they were grieving, God was still working out their redemption plan. He was still fighting for them behind the scenes.

Easter/Resurrection Sunday (D-Day)

The grand finale. The day Jesus resurrected (Mat 28).

Glorious day (Living He loved me)

In Christ Alone by Adrienne Camp and Geoff Moore.
