The Forge tells the story of a single mom and her 19- year-old son, Isaiah. Chronicling his journey from an irresponsible young man to one after God's heart.

Here are my key takeaways. Don't worry if you haven't watched it yet. Let this inspire you to do so.

  1. The importance of discipleship and community.

I think this is the main lesson of the movie. God blessed Isaiah with the company of godly men to help him along his journey.

The title, "The Forge," alludes to a literal forge where swords are made. The swords are taken through a tough process of hitting and refining just as hard as life can be. A sword is heavy when one man holds it stretched out for some time, but when God sends people into your life and each share a word of encouragement, a rebuke, a hand of help, etc., it's like they're each holding a certain part of your sword, making the task lighter and bearable for you.

Love the fact that they did not only focus on spiritual things but on physical things like his confidence and clothes. Isaiah's transformation wasn't just spiritual, it was evident to all. He had grown men and his peers alike who were willing to share their stories of faith and tips that has helped them in their lives.

  1. The power of prayer

Prayer is one of the early themes in the movie. Isaiah's mom had been worrying and nagging her son to change his habits but it was not until she turned to prayer that she started to see change.

Throughout Isaiah's conversion story, prayer and a complete surrender to God's will brought him freedom.

  1. The miracle of changed desires

Someone changing from an irresponsible youth to a gentleman who knows what he's about can only be a miracle. We see Isaiah give up his addiction to gaming, laziness, flirtatious behaviour etc. For many of us, change takes time, we fall so many times even after we've committed to stay away. Yet that doesn't take away the miraculous nature of it, with time and total surrender to the Holy Spirit, the sins and idols that easily beset us become only memorials of God's mercy in our minds.

  1. Good attitude towards work

It's impressive how Isaiah and his colleagues worked hard to meet the deadline. Exhibiting leadership skills by taking charge and motivating them that it was possible to meet that demand. He was not apathetic and had genuine commitment to seeing the company prosper. They had a good boss though who used the funds for good causes and I believe that also motivated them to work harder. It is also interesting to note that the boss actually rewarded their sacrifice.

5. Forgiveness

Things were going quite well for Isaiah until he had to confront the fact that he had not forgiven his father for abandoning the family. As christians, sometimes there are things we haven't fully surrendered yet.

We ask God to intervene in every aspect but shut out that part of our lives to Him. Isaiah was saved all right but unforgiveness held him in bondage.

Accidentally meeting his father was an act of God's mercy to get him to surrender all of his heart to him.

I would rate the movie a solid 8/10, a must watch for everyone. There are just so many good things to learn. In the words of Joshua Moore ( Isaiah's discipler); "be a fountain not a drain". Have a fulfilling week👋.

If you've already seen it, what was your major takeaway, let's learn in the comments.
