WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE?

Will you be my valentine?

Have you been asked this before?

If you have, good for you. If you haven't, well...it's not that deep.

It's a way lovers ask each other out on the universally acclaimed day of love.

The man goes all out and asks the woman out on a date. Sometimes these people are already in a thriving romantic relationship, but the man sees the need to once again reaffirm his commitment to the woman by asking her out again. It's a well-known practice among couples.

Throughout scripture, our relationship with God can be likened to that of a bride and groom. This shows that there are certain similarities in both cases. I am of the opinion that if we apply just a little bit of the wisdom we have in thriving romantic relationships to our walk with God, that will thrive too.

God already demonstrated the highest level of commitment to us when He sent Jesus to come and die for us. Throughout scripture, we are being invited over and over again into a relationship with God.

What are we also doing to make this work or is this a one-sided relationship with God being the one doing all the work?

That if we seek to take some time off once a day, week, month or year to reaffirm our commitment to God, we set to strengthen our bond with God.

If we hammer on the importance of communication in relationships why don't we do same through prayer with our Maker.

If lovers are intentional about dates, why don't we do same with God.

Life gets busy, it gets tough. We grow, we meet new ideologies that can cloud our perspective. Therefore it's essential that we take time to recommit ourselves to our first love.

To take part in the disciplines that mark our faith.

When Jesus was leaving, he told his disciples to take the holy Communion in remembrance of his death.

He knew that we are bound to forget due to our human nature so he put statutes and ordinances in place so that generation after generation will remember Him.

Today is a good day to reboot your love life with God.

However, you'll be spending your day today, I hope you remember your first love today.

I hope you spend some time reaffirming your relationship with Him. Let your conduct be one worthy of your calling as a child of God. Don't let any earthly relationship bring your most important relationship into jeopardy.

Do have a great week.
